Celebrities Behaving Badlly
I dislike celebrities who act really bad just for publicity because then they are not really showing their true selves and kinda selling out. There are a lot of celebrities famous for being "bad" and their fans and other people still love them and put up with them. People might like them for their looks or for the person that the fans think they are or just for what they produce. For example, someone might think Justin Bieber's songs are good but they don't look at or care about his behaviour. Some people just like those certain celebrities because they are loyal fans but doesn't this just condone this bad behaviour? I prefer celebrities who are positive and actually care for their fans. I kinda hate how some celebrities can get away from the bad things that they do without consequence.
I don't like that certain celebrities act bad because they should consider that they are role models many people. Younger people can think that that kind of behaviour is okay to imitate when it really isn't.
I also get that people make mistakes once in a while and that celebrities aren't an exception to this. However, think about how a normal, average person is treated when they make a mistake like that. They aren't put under so much scrutiny and other things but a celebrity has to deal with that and that is difficult. Certainly, if a celebrity has done something so bad like physical abuse, their career should definitely be affected. If a celebrity is caught with drugs they should still have the same consequences as a regular person and shouldn't be exempted from these consequences because they are famous. I don't believe that celebrities are above the law and I sometimes think that they even have worse because of the public eye and the very harsh opinions of the regular people.

Digital Art vs. Traditional Paper and Pencil Drawings
So, lately I have been trying to work on trying new art skills to have a better range when I realized that I could try drawing digital works! I have been drawing on my tablet for a few days and I really like it! Of course it was hard at first but I have gotten used to it.
I really like drawing the traditional way too because it has a different look to it.
(This is something I drew on Ibis paint X)
Now, what is the difference?
The cost of some drawing materials is really expensive! For example, last year I bought a lot of copic markers because I like the way it looked because it doesn't show the lines if you overlap and it is easy to blend. The problem was that each marker was $5 each! But you don't need expensive materials to make good art.
When drawing with a tablet, there are some really good apps for drawing like Medibang paint and Ibis paint X that are free! These apps include layers and different brushes that are customizable. (I like Ibis paint X better because they record what you draw and this is helpful when you want to see a speed paint!) Plus, its easy to undo mistakes and it produces cleaner lines and more of a range of colors.

Safe Schools
There is a reason we have guidance counsellors to help us through high school. If there weren't people to help us it would be very difficult. Even if we do have guidance counsellors, sometimes the difference in age might make it difficult for them to understand the situation and how we feel. At Mary Ward, the support system, I think, is pretty good. I feel comfortable because I have a TA that asks how we are doing, and friends and a guidance counsellor that are willing to help me if I need it. I can't imagine a fourteen year old girl, almost as old as me, feeling so helpless that she would hurt others also. I know that not everyone has safe and caring situations at school because some people are just plain mean. However, we can let people know they are not alone when you notice someone is sad or lonely, or when you see someone that is being bullied, don't do nothing and watch, let the victim know that someone actually cares for them. The reason why that 14 year old girl attacked other students is because she felt alone, she felt that no one believed she was being bullied and that there was no one able to help her.
Our school, as well as others can have a W.A.R.D. unit about bullying sometime in the near future where people can talk about bullying and why it is happening. Actually, there was even the play about a guy who was being bullied because of his sexual orientation. This play was very emotional and it gave us a peek into what happens when someone is being bullied and the emotions we are going through and it makes us think about how we treat others in the process. My friend, yesterday, felt like she was being bullied on the bus when one of the people in our grade was shoving a bag on to her and laughing at her at the same time. I wish I was there to stop it but if I was, would I be able to stop it? Would I have the courage? I don't know but bullying is a serious problem that could lead to dangerous situations but there are ways to solve it other than hurting other people.

Of Course the Internet is Telling Me the Truth!!!
Everyday, people are going on the internet. About 7.6 billion people use the internet everyday!
Did you believe that? Or did you not? Good for you, if you didn't believe me and checked the facts! The fact that 7.6 billion people use the internet everyday is false. In fact, there is only about 7.4 billion people on the Earth and many still don't use it.
Some people believe everything they read on the internet. Do you? Well, I don't believe every single thing I see on the internet but some things I actually do believe. But what can you do? I don't check every single thing I read because I am either too busy or lazy to look it up, or I just assume that it is true and that the people have checked their facts. This could be the case for so many others. This doesn't mean I am very gullible.
I see so many images, articles and memes (yup, SO MANY MEMES) that I can't possibly check every single one, but there are some very obvious fake images, or ones that are not as believable, that I check just to see if it is real or not. Some people don't check the facts at all but skepticism is good, it is healthy. It might even be better if you don't believe everything you see, and especially if it is from one or even no sources.
Here's an example:
When I was scrolling along on Instagram, I noticed this one thing

This person claims that if you have Alexandria's Genesis, you don't have periods, but you fertile? That is impossible! Also, the person on the bottom is kinda gullible for believing this. Also, this is on Tumblr, so the information isn't reliable at all! Everything you read on the internet is true, so be aware of what is true and what isn't. Also, we have to make sure that when we post something, it has valid resources and is true.
Get Off Your Phone?
Some people say that our phones have changed our lives, and I believe that it actually has changed for the better. If we are talking about friends, it has actually made me closer to them because we get to talk more after school since we live farther away from each other. Also, when we are at school we continue talking about the topic we were chatting about the night before in face to face conversation.
When we are talking about if my relationship with my parents has changed, it hasn't for me. We still eat at the dinner table together and we talk about things but I don't use my phone then because I am eating. There is a specific time and place to use it and it usually isn't when you are around your parents. But my parents always call me out when they think I am using it instead of doing homework. The problem is that I AM doing my homework on my phone either to research or to type something up because my sister is using my laptop it something. Of course I get distracted at times but only once in a while for a very short period of time. The same goes for school. I am on my phone to research and work or I am not on my phone at all because I am too busy doing other work. So, I think that students should still be allowed to use their phones at school in the future.
I realize that people say that phones distract you because of social media, but you can't expect people, especially teenagers, to work ALL of the time. We have a life after school! Also, the school limits us from certain social media that can distract us, for example: Snapchat and Facebook. At least, some social media apps/sites are still allowed.
This may be just me, but I also use my phone when I am in an awkward situation. For example, my dad's God son, and his sister came over to our house last Friday an we haven't even seen each other ever and they expected us to talk. Me, being the shy person I am, had a difficult time trying to make conversation because I didn't really know what to talk about. However, when he was on his phone, he was telling his sister about this YouTuber I like and I finally talked about one of his videos and we began to speak to each other. Most times, a phone has helped me instead of hindering my situation.
All I'm saying is that having our phones isn't bad!

Would You Pay???
Apparently, YouTube has released a subscription that is totally and completely ad-free called 'YouTube Red'. I, myself, am not that bothered by many ads, especially by YouTube ads, because I can skip it in almost 5 seconds. That isn't that much time so it doesn't really bother me. Also, the ads don't pop up a lot on my devices because I set it up to block some ads. However, some people are so bothered by them that YouTube had this idea for this subscription. It comes with a price though. It is $9.99 per month. That is quite a sum to remove the few ads that pop up, and a few extra videos for free. In my opinion it is way over-priced. My point is, I will not pay $9.99 per month just so that these 5-30 second ads can go away. It believe that is just not worth it.
However, I don't think it would be such a problem with advertisers for a few reasons. 1) I don't think that many people would pay $9.99 just to get rid of those ads. Therefore, there won't be such a fuss about this new subscription. 2) The price of advertising on YouTube is $0.10-$0.30 per view. Plus, you only pay for the ad when someone engages with it. If they skip it before 30 seconds (or the end) you don't pay a cent. You can also control up until how much you have to spend. (According to YouTube's advertising website which is (https://www.youtube.com/yt/advertise/) 3) Currently, 'YouTube Red' is only available in the U.S. right now, so the people who put up the ads won't be as affected. 4) According to some 'YouTube Red' users, they are still getting ads but their ads are geared and related to the videos that they watch.
